Live Turtle Encounter - November to March
Only Sunset Safaris offer the MON REPOS Live Turtle Encounter on the Great Barrier Reef. See nature at its wildest as migrating turtles crawl up the beach and lay eggs in the sand. All Minors (people under the age of 18) who book day tours without a parent or guardian attending the tour must call or email Sunset Safaris to disclose their age before booking the tour. A waiver form will be provided for parents or guardians to sign before tour departure. If a minor arrives on tour without parent or guardian permission and without a signed form, the minor will not be able to participate in activities of risk, and will not be eligible for a refund. For Multi-Day Tours, minors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to be eligible to attend the tour.
PAYMENT Your Tour payment is broken up into 2 components, your Sunset Safaris ticket price component, and your Boat Access & Reef Tax component ($210). Boat Access & Reef Tax component of $210 must be paid in CASH to driver upon departure, while the boarding pass can be purchased HERE on this web site.
CANCELLATION POLICY DUE TO STRONG WINDS Occasionally strong winds will cause the cancellation of the boat that takes us to the Great Barrier Reef. Sunset Safaris will always endeavour to cancel or postpone the excursion to Bargara before time of departure if winds are too strong. However, due to the unpredictability of winds, we may arrive at Bargara, and be told by the boat company that the trip has been cancelled. In the uncommon event that this occurs, Sunset Safaris will refund the total sum of the purchase price of the Boat ticket and reef tax ($210) at Bargara. A range of other activities such as snorkelling and diving in sheltered waters, sea kayaking, surfing, amphibious vehicle rides, and much more may be arranged by Sunset Safaris Staff at Bargara, and these optional activities are then payable by the customer. The Local Fees/Pay On Board Fees include the return boat ticket and the national park fee. The national park fee allows you to access the national park/World Heritage Listed Area.

Do you have life jackets and safety equipment?
Yes, and for free. We have a wide range of life jackets and body board for floatation.
Do you supply towels?
No. Please bring your own towels.
Are shower facilities available on the cruise?
Yes. There is a cold shower for you to freshen up after your swim.
What are the types of accommodation?
It is a multiple-share villa accommodation, normally 4-6 people in one villa. We also provide upgrade options: Private Twin / Triple-Share villa accommodation, extra fee applies (AU$150/per person). Please contact us for upgrade availability and cost.
Are there any toilets/bathroom facilities in the share accommodation?
Yes, each 4 or 5 share room includes a shower and a toilet.
Do you separate males and females in the share rooms?
Since you are not camping, linens are provided in the standard multi-share villa, and in the private single or twin villas.
Are there any towels/amenities/hairdryer supplied in the accommodation?
Please bring your own towels, amenities and hairdryer (if needed) as these are not provided by the accommodation provider. Though bath towels are supplied in the upgraded accommodation type,we encourage you to bring your own beach towels as we are not permitted to use the resort’s bath towels as beach towels.
Is there any WIFI on the cruise or at the Reef?
No, WIFI service is not available.
Can I change the travel date before tour departure?
Yes, you can. However, we can only allow one-time change (subject to availability), and the change must be made and confirmed with our reservations staff at least 24 hours prior to your original departure date. After one change has been made, no more change is allowed and a 100% cancellation fee applies (that is, no refund will be given).
Do I get any discount if I book another tour(s) with Australian Sunset Safaris?
Yes. You will receive 10% off the tour ticket price when you call us directly to book a second tour or third tour with us.
Is there any public holiday surcharge if I travel on public holidays?
Yes. There is AU$20 pp holiday surcharge for the Great Barrier Reef 3-day tours during Christmas holiday period, New Year’s Day and Easter long weekend. There is no surcharge on other public holidays.
